Announcing our summer intern class

A bit belatedly (due to a backlog of blog postings), I wanted to announce ff Venture Capital‘s summer intern class. We’re actively recruiting interns for the fall.

You’ve already heard from some of them, and you’ll be hearing more over the course of the summer.

imageFranklin Bi

Franklin Bi became passionate about venture capital and entrepreneurship after he spent a summer in Silicon Valley, working on an information services startup focused on innovation management. Since then, he has co-written several business plans with fellow classmates and recently served as team leader on a Wharton Field Challenge consulting project for PhillyCarShare, a Philadelphia-based car-sharing startup. Prior to joining ff Venture Capital, Franklin was a summer analyst at J.P. Morgan Chase in the Treasuries & Securities Services division.

Franklin is a recent graduate of the Wharton School of Business with a B.S. in Economics, with concentrations in Finance, Management, and Entrepreneurship, and will be returning to J.P. Morgan Chase in the fall as a full-time analyst. He enjoys playing indoor/beach volleyball, writing Yelp reviews, and shamelessly spreading the gospel of comic books as a serious art form. Curious about the accuracy of any superhero movie to the original? He’s your guy.

David brings a proven track record for growing emerging technology companies. He was an early employee of a software start-up born out of the MIT Media Lab, Frictionless Commerce (acquired by SAP). At Frictionless, David played in a key role in almost every facet of the business from sales to product management.

After Frictionless Commerce, David worked for Deloitte Consulting, where he was a member of the strategy practice, with a specific focus on Mergers, Divestiture, and Restructuring engagements. His work at Deloitte has taken him around the world, advising clients from Brazil to China, and given him a global perspective on how integrated global business has become. David just completed his first year at Columbia Business School.

David is a sports fanatic, and if you see an extra spring in his step, you can be sure one of his beloved Boston teams has gotten the better of its New York counterpart.

Hailing from the great[est] state of Texas, Matthew Fairbank is nonetheless fortunate to be sidled with only a minor Texas drawl. At university, he enjoys working on the student newspaper, mock government conferences for high school students, and volunteering to assist the residents of Boston with housing. His past internship experiences have included scientific research and experimentation with Southwest Research Institute related to lunar soil composition and consulting work with Hay Group in Beijing. Having never lived in New York, he very much looks forward to working and playing in the city.

Jason is a high-school student, currently attending the Montclair Kimberley Academy in Montclair, New Jersey. At his school, he has participated in the Ampersand writing club, the Aids Awareness community service initiative, and has created (and currently runs) the Philosophy Club. He plans on majoring in Physics and getting a minor in Philosophy, as well as taking other classes in Hebrew and Music Theory. Having never before worked in an environment quite like the one ff provides, this internship is teaching Jason all about office life, and the philosophy of, “If you don’t have time to do it right now, when will you have time to do it over later?”
