This post is not about Roy Moore, North Korea, Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, massive California wildfires, Harvey Weinstein, Robert Mueller, Travis Kalanick, Ajit Pai, ISIS, LeVar Ball, Al Franken, Bill O’Reilly, Roger Goodell, Jerry Jones, Janet Porter or Mark Zuckerberg.

This post is not about Brexit, Paul Manafort, Doug Jones, Billy Bush, net neutrality, Louis CK, Matt Lauer, Donald Trump, Jr, Kellyanne Conway, Trent Franks, Hurricane Harvey, online trolls, Mike Pence, John Conyers, Sean Hannity, Steve Bannon, Blake Farenthold or Bitcoin.

Instead, this column is about nothing more important than the weather. For about 90 minutes Thursday evening, it snowed in Austin. This is a very rare occurrence for Central Texas, particularly given the much warmer winter temperatures over the last few years.

These brief flurries gave many of us a temporary respite from the non-stop cycle of noise that has been 2017. Most of the snow melted later last night —and the white stuff should be completely gone by early morning Friday. But it felt so good to be liberated from all these crises, if even for a short time.
