You may know Poland for its unpronounceable surnames and sour cabbage in absolutely every meal possible, however, this Central European nation is so much more than pickled vegetables and delicious comfort food. In recent years, Poland has been receiving more attention on the startup scene and in tech news.

Steve : The first example I remember hearing about that was getting printing presses and Xerox machines into Poland during the Solidarity movement. Digital Service and that enables us to bring people in quickly for six months, for a year, from Silicon Valley, from other places (like the) East Coast and points in between.

Running a startup in New York or Silicon Valley is very expensive, so no wonder that recently, there has been an explosion of new locations starting to see growth in tech startups. Nations such as Estonia or Poland have made a name for themselves as well.

One thing you can say – it’s definitely more quiet in Poland now that I am away haha. We will definitely keep our development team in Poland – we have a big team, very special company culture, great office, great vibe. When you work in tech, being close to Silicon Valley just makes sense, you can learn so much here.

And it appears that at least in Silicon Valley, a larger percentage of money made in the last tech bubble is recirculated back into investments into the next generation of tech startups. The ability to copy and disseminate banned ideas undermined repressive regimes from Poland to Iran to the Soviet Union.
