We eventually ended up converting everything to SQLAlchemy’s lowest-level language for constructing SQL (one step away from raw SQL). have serious security problems and seem to be able to weather a small PR storm. We used SQLAlchemy for our ORM, but I really hate ORM’s and this was just a giant nuisance to deal with.

The site was once great; marketed by a high-end NYC PR firm. It had ancient hard drives, an installation of Windows Server 2003 that hadn’t been refreshed for 5 or 6 years, and two SQL Server databases that had not been re-indexed (or had any visible maintenance) for 3 years. For years.

If someone comes to you with Ruby on Rails experience, do you assume they are ignorant of SQL? I learned C# and.NET (along with HTML/CSS/JS/SQL/etc) because that’s what they used. I sold to you & PR function back in the day (SuperMac) and others to the many companies dating back, but finally E.piphany ~ MediaMap (now is Cision). WebSequenceDiagrams - sketch sequence diagrams. Our development was a particularly complicated build requiring 5 developers, a systems architect, an html coder, a SQL specialist, 4 testers, 2 designers, a graphic designer, a project manager and a security specialist. But producing a professional and slick product costs money.

I had a look at the source code, and it was chock-full of SQL injection vulnerabilities. Superficially it sort of worked, but the underlying code is so full of fundamental coding errors (God classes, SQL Injection opportunities, massive global dependencies etc.) I dont know how he chose the person to do it.
