I Have To Laugh by Mudhoney - It was 1998, well after the grunge era had been dried up, spit out, and kicked to the curb by pop culture. America spoke up, and they wanted their Britney Spears and Nü Metal. So what does Mudhoney do? Release an album which goes straight back to their grunge roots. This probably did not make their label masters, Reprise, too happy, so they were promptly dropped from the label.
Whatever. This album rocks. I Have To Laugh probably sums up their attitude to their label, the music scene, and pretty much everything else. I am not so down on things or pissed off at life, but oddly enough I woke up this morning partly in a fog and partly wanting to laugh out loud. It was just one of those nights.
