Learning How To Say No by @alextaub
I recently wrote a post about getting rejected and how it should push you to higher places.
Well, now I am talking about learning how to say no.
I have a problem. I have a hard time saying no to anyone. I try to make everything work. As I’ve learned to grow from other people’s no’s I still…
Very honest post by a real hustler in the NYC tech scene. Saying “no” is tough, but if you have to focus on accomplishing your own things first. Doing otherwise jeopardizes your own ability to execute and damages your relationships with others.
The good thing is that if you are up front and honest with people about why you are saying “no”, they understand. In this crazy tech startup business, we are all stretched for time but at the same time make the sacrifice when we can to help each other. Those that do not understand this dynamic or get indignant when you say “no” are not worth meeting or helping anyway.
Be honest with yourself and what you have time for. If you do not have the time to help or do not think that you could provide any valuable assistance, be bold enough to say “no”.
