SATURDAY JAZZ BRUNCH: Autumn Leaves performed by Cannonball Adderley - For better or worse (and given the recent storm, most would say worse), the autumn season is finally upon us. The cold tinge in the air, the leaves drifting in piles along the ground, and the shorter days are all signals towards an oncoming winter.
It is hard to choose a favorite from the Somethin’ Else album. It is such a seminal recording from the hard bop era featuring some of the greatest jazz musicians of all time, including Miles Davis and Art Blakey. I posted another song last year, but it was time to pull up this French tune by Joseph Kosma and the lead tune from this album. Listening to it evokes such strong images of walking down a tree lined park trail with the yellow, oranges, and reds shimmering all around. Have an excellent brunch this morning!
