Once again, my friends have blown me away

  
Wow. Just wow.

When I decided to “donate” my birthday to Central Outreach & Advocacy Center, a nonprofit that is near and dear to me, I never thought my friends would contribute to the tune of over $3,000!!! 

Central OAC focuses on opening doors out of homelessness, and I thought I’d share what the donation that many of you made can do. For Atlanta’s homeless, $3,000 can provide:

• 600 Georgia State IDs
• 120 birth certificates needed for GA ID
• 3,000 pair of reading glasses
• 150 pair of prescription glasses
• 67 pair of work boots/shoes for employment
• 100 cell phones with minutes to search for employment
• 253 weekly MARTA cards to get to work

As you can see, your contributions will help so many men and women of our homeless community to find jobs, obtain housing, gain access to food kitchens, and in some cases, not get arrested (yes, that can sometimes happen if you don’t have a proper ID.)
