80’S TUESDAY: Our House by Madness - Around the late 70’s, ska started to see a revival in the UK. Given the connection between the UK and its former colony Jamaica, it was only a matter of time. The problem was that outside of The Specials, much of what passed for UK ska at the time was simply not that good.
Madness had started out hard core ska and then switched it up in 1982 to release pure pop gold. Our House was a fixture on the radio for most of the next year and to this day the song just sticks in my head. Though Madness had a string of successful singles, in the US, this song will forever be etched at their defining song.
