LATIN METAL MONDAY: Oasis by Puya - You might be forgiven if you think the only musical acts Puerto Rico ever graced us with were Tito Puente and Ricky Martin. Rock music does exist however and thrives on the island amidst the sounds of merengue, salsa, and hip-hop.
Puya is far and away the biggest of the metal acts, but this is no standard issue metal. Mixing horns, Latin sounds, rap, reggaeton and pretty much every other Caribbean influence, it is a crazy mashup of sounds that actually works in the end. All of this comes together on the track Oasis from their album Fundamental. A band that is a lot of fun, knows their roots, and rocks hard Latin style.
