In 1998 there were around 850 VC funds and by 2000 there were 2,300. In 1997, the year the Kauffman Report begins its analysis; there were 70 million users online globally. In 1998 it was 150 million, 1999 250 million and by 2000 it had crossed 350 million. The Funding Problem. There are 20x more consumers online.
