In 2009, Google allowed publishers to cap FCF views at five articles per day ; in 2015, the cap tightened to three articles. That type of content, Smullen says, gets great traction on social media and helps publishers monetize pageviews with ads. For publishers, the policy didn’t work. The changes didn’t solve the issue.
