It’s probably because Webforms was essentially designed to cater to Desktop Application developers. Now, much ASP.Net web development is done using MVC, the Razor engine, or using other technologies like node.js, all enabling you the ability to use IDs. As such, styling was always done with classes. Really a awesome post!
