Are there types of companies, market segments, industries, or business models where PLG does not make sense? Obviously if you target enterprise customers, you usually have a very large ACV (Annual Contract Value) and the product usually is complex. But they built a very realistic simulation demo. It's not your own data.

After a few months, the demo site won a business plan competition. Im trying to create a technology enabled recruiting service for an unproven business model. Even though the business is making money now, its still a big risk for anyone involved. I went to every programming event I could find on Meetup.com.

The programmer will probably not understand your business model, and therefore cant help you point out anything that doesnt make sense in the requirements. I also know someone else who consulted me about his website idea. Well as a programmer of many websites I find that it is easier for my clients to consult my ideas first.
