In my case, I grew up in Connecticut and spent a fair amount of time in New York – all the while trying to start companies, relatively unsuccessfully. Keep salaries smaller, smaller smaller. Keep salaries smaller, smaller smaller. The ecosystem is just hard to beat. Find money anywhere in the world EXCEPT from VCs.
