A big technical challenge we studied was piping streaming video over networks. We needed improvements in video compression and in TCP/IP – the underlying protocol that essentially runs the Internet. Wikipedia was a tremendous invention in the process of knowledge curation, and it was dependent, in turn, on the invention of wikis.
