It was a great experience to see a relatively new startup hub in action - and thriving. Its easy to take Silicon Valley for granted. Ive written a little bit about the origins of Silicon Valley because I think its important for us to understand how we got here in order to make sure we preserve what is best about our community.

Incubators and Accelerators. While accelerators and incubators are two entirely different things, they often go hand-in-hand in helping startups grow and flourish. In addition to providing them with the capital they need to succeed, they also can often provide a location for them to work, too.

I have 2 options: set up a new startup or share my idea with google (or maybe another big silicon valley’s company). I’m not in the e-commerce space, but when I see things like Zappos tagging users as they browse products and then retarget them with ads when their on the new york time, I think “Damn, that’s cool”.

Over the last half a century, Silicon Valley has grown into the leading technology and innovation cluster for the United States and the world. the failure rate of new ventures (startups had no formal rules and were a hit or miss proposition), the slow adoption rate of new technologies by the government and large companies.

I’ve seen the Valley grow from Sunnyvale to Santa Clara to today where it stretches from San Jose to South of Market in San Francisco. I’ve watched the Valley go from Microwave Valley – to Defense Valley – to Silicon Valley to Internet Valley. So how did this happen? Where is it going?
