Through comment conversations with many of you I tried to emphasize that it isn’t enough to just have one attribute. VCs don’t have the same net worth litmus test and great entrepreneurs have a ton of sources for seed money to get financed very early. Once you’re done raising a fund you’ll hire anybody you want!

October 2007 (This essay is derived from a keynote at FOWA in October 2007.) We could hire employees, but we want to be forced to figure out how to scale investing. As the volume of startups increases, big companies will start to develop standardized procedures that make acquisitions little more work than hiring someone.
