The class is organized, led and delivered by Startup Weekend , the global non-profit that teaches entrepreneurs how to launch a startup in 54 hours. The program expands to all of Startup Weekend’s 350 member communities in 2013 where it will be offered up to five times a year in each city. 28 in more than 25 cities worldwide.

The most common ways in which the Fortune 500 are working with the startup community at scale is through corporate VC arms, contests, packages of benefits geared to startups, and accelerator programs. I worked with our intern team to look for the Fortune 500 companies making the strongest effort to reach out to the tech startup community.

Last night it was finally time for Wayra demoDay 2013 – a chance for the fledgling startups to draw interest and offers of cash from a crowd of more than 200 investors.

and I thought if we brought the community together for common purpose we could create more of a sense of community to help new entrepreneurs get funded, assemble teams, raise profiles and help with biz dev, product, etc. Throughout 2012 & 2013 we funded many companies and then pulled together a second fund.
