Changing Equity Structures for Early Startup Employees Tweet Recently someone asked me for advice on how much equity they should give to their early employees. 1% but they’re not going to be overwhelmed by it, or insanely incentivized by that equity alone. I do believe that early employees should trade salary for equity.

Will developers and designers provide services for a piece of the company? Ideally you can pay them based + equity so that you’ll get their attention and focus on the project. Do you know of any VC or angel investors that are interested in targeting the Hispanic Market? That’s how I got my first 10-50 customers.

I have come to believe during my time as an operator, entrepreneur and investor that the balance of these skills is so important to the long-term health of a business that if balance is not achieved early then the impact later can be profound - sometimes terminal.
