I personally believe that one of the major drawbacks to venture capital in Europe is chronic under-financing and people skirt around this issue. We keep hearing about lean start-ups and how much costs have dropped when launching and growing a business. Initial costs are peanuts to get something up and running.

With nearly 2/3rd of all VCs citing cost-cutting in 2016 as the norm — this is a clear indication that winter made an appearance. Why Was Winter in Venture Capital Funding so Short? So if funding from VCs slowed, valuations dropped and burn rates were slashed, WTF happened to winter again? This chart surprised me the most.
