We had a finance group for all of the bank branches based in San Diego, and I wrote programs to download stuff from the mainframe so we could do analysis three days faster than they could send us the data. I did programming for the career center at UC San Diego, trying to build programs for the career center.

Summit is a hugely respected firm in Silicon Valley and a long-term “institution&# but they’re better known as more of a “private equity&# investor meaning that they do later stage investments in much larger companies that are profitable. Another called Parker Harris, the co-founder and CTO. There was no viral social networking products back then like Twitter where people could easily discover your content. There is really no other place in the world like Silicon Valley. In case VC’s haven’t figured this out yet, shit rolls downhill.

Im not offering extensive studies or research to support this conclusion; the evidence from my peers right here in the innovation capital of America, Silicon Valley, is absolutely overwhelming. If we network them together, theyll answer each others questions and collaborate on projects we can hardly imagine. They are nerds.
