Everyone is so focused on search that they’re going to miss the bigger opportunity, which I think is making meaning out of the massive amount of information on the internet, not just searching it. This allows team members to comment or share ideas on company events of interest.

Attending events around London, or talking with some of the development agencies present at the events, one might hear a startling set of opinions. Their lead developer built the first parts of the Rails framework before throwing it open to the Open Source community for further work, and in doing so the first true Web 2.0

I need money for the servers. Here’s the rub: in consumer internet (and often enterprise), if your founding team doesn’t have the chops to get a prototype of your product out and in the hands of a blogger to test and write about, you might as well save yourself a lot of pain – you’re not going anywhere. I don’t know any developers.

The numbers I’ve heard from most everyone is that only about 20 percent of companies that have gotten a seed round in the last year will be able to raise a Series A. I recently went to a networking event for one of the seed funds that invested in PandoDaily, and I’ve never seen such worry on the faces of the entrepreneurs.
