Hiring seems to be the preferred use of seed funds (by investors and founders), whereas I'd prefer a focus on customer acquisition. In many cases, during my Free Startup CTO Consulting Session with them, we discuss where they are in in the process. The startup founder is definitely not ready to hire a CTO. Far from it.

There are quite a few other Software Development Companies in Southern California working on open source and/or freemium business models. Common revenue streams are consulting, training, support, customization, upgraded versions for corporate applications, etc. He has twenty years’ experience as a CTO.

Although this was annoying for sysadmins, security consultants, and language purists (and for those who had proprietary modules that couldnt be bundled), it was a huge boon for developers. In my role as a CTO, Ive always tried to choose the right tool for the right job. I am CTO of a SaaS vendor, and we use PHP.

I’ve never made software before or even a website. He had a little local web development agency which is making websites for random people. Most of our business comes from word of mouth and we decided that a couple of years ago that we should add another way of getting customers.

Also important: Only go for providers who have great reviews from many past customers. I also know someone else who consulted me about his website idea. " And looking at the requirements, I didnt think it was difficult to find a programmer to develop that. Or if prototype is good enough to sell, sell it to customers.
