Look beyond California and you have group purchasing (GroupOn in Chicago, LivingSocial in Washington DC), private sales (Gilt Groupe in NY, HauteLook in LA), artisan marketplaces (Etsy in NY), eCommerce (Amazon in Seattle) and on and on. In LA you can attract a great team to build out your first 30-50 employees.

The company expanded rapidly, growing from nine employees to 150 over the course of just five weeks.
