As privacy gets eroded through government activity we can expect a lot more anonymous forums to emerge as powerful web platforms. This year I signed up to a number of email newsletters which provided a haven of curation in my areas of interest. It’s been said that this helped tumblr, and is a large part of Snapchats appeal.

Kirsten is leading our program development and speaker selection -- curating a four day, multi-tracked, 2000-person event. Conference attendees are entrepreneurs of all kinds--venture backed, bootstrappers, even entrepreneurs in corporate and government settings.

In 2000, Eric Baker and Jeff Fluhr founded StubHub , a secondary ticket exchange marketplace. While the company is not primarily a marketplace, each order is hand-curated by a work-at-home “stylist” who works part-time on their own schedule from the comfort of their own home. The company was acquired by ebay in January 2007.

They were mostly trying to reduce their risk factors, and they were hoping that the government, the public health departments, would actually take ownership of the response there. I think that another one was really kind of partnering with local governments on this part and trying to help them. I mean- ER : Yeah.
