My conclusion: if you’re a software engineer, with good technical background and ability, you can pretty much write your own ticket in Southern California. and even bigger, architecture-level talent (particularly software architects who know how to scale a web based service or software). My example: I have mainly programmed _by choice_ in Python, Ruby, Scala, Haskell, C# and currently I’m doing Java. I am a dev working on.net stuff as well as ruby/c/js/coffeescript and whatnot.
