Question My co-founders and I are working on a cool new site, and we’ll be ready to launch in a few weeks. Otherwise, if one of the founders quits after a few months, he would take all of his shares with him. In short, this is a nightmare scenario – particularly if there is bad blood with the other co-founders.

So if entrepreneurs want to pioneer new ideas with a lean model, my advice is to use low cost alternatives to build differentiality that can be protected from institutions with far more money than ethics, creativity, or innovation-- other than skirting the loopholes in our justice system regarding protection of IP, and honing predatory tactics.

I remember when I made that first flight out to San Francisco from Boston to meet the team in 2004, the company was down to its last $20K in the bank. We lived together in a crappy apartment in San Francisco and commuted together from SF down to the peninsula every day. We were effectively together 24/7.

It would be ideal if Yale built a similar tool which allowed students to filter for companies with a) quality teams, b) >10 employees, c) backed by a credible VC, and d) (optional) a Yale cofounder. Founder community. I wrote a blog post on this. None of these focus on high-quality research from university students.
