It seems the focus on “virtual&# goods has been both the demo of the consumer as well as the fact that by definition virtual goods have almost no marginal costs to the seller so giving a huge slice to the carrier (and Zong) isn’t a problem since actual costs are ~ $0.

As a developer, I feel that design/creative is undervalued in the early stages of product development. Notwithstanding examples like Plentyofish, people respond to well designed, well branded products, and that can be important in getting traction early on. It is at best a feature.

So for this first post, here’s the best advice I can give you: join an awesome founding team and get your product out the door ASAP.
