I’m a very big proponent of the “lean startup movement&# as espoused by Steve Blank & Eric Ries. Over funding often produces bad behavior in early-stage companies. Some of the best new companies of the past several years seem to stay lean until they figure out their product / market fit.

He noted that Chris Dixon ( @cdixon ) of Hunch tweeted, “New early-stage start up trend: get big quietly, so you don’t tip off potential competitors.&# and we've been leaning towards remaining in stealth mode a bit longer. Great to hear a well thought out argument for that approach. Great post!
