Greenplum has used red shift to characterize the nature of the existing database market where exponential data growth driven by network computing and internet applications have outstripped the capacity of existing mainstream vendors. Personally, I think this is a much more interesting deal than Yahoos acquisition of Right Media, Microsofts purchase of aQuantive , and Googles buy of Doubleclick , because I believe advanced targeting, particularly as it relates to social media, is the biggest growth opportunity in online advertising.
