Dr. Marcos Athanasoulis, CTO of Harvard Medical School discussed this idea with me recently. Michael Aginsky, CTO of Gibbons P.C. Rajeev wants to build a BPO firm in a place called Bolpur in West Bengal, India. Bolpur is home to the Viswabharati university, as well as several other small engineering and professional colleges.

Think of Werner Vogels (CTO of Amazon), Guido van Rossem (founder of Python programming language and senior engineer at Dropbox) or the more senior Gerard Kleisterlee (chairman of Vodafone). Along the way, I was hired full time (I believe about 8 months after I started), a coder from India was hired and another contractor was added to the team. You’d have to look at your stock options contract.

The best composition is probably one engineer whose passion lies in the pixels on the screen and another engineer whose passion is making bits fly really fast through servers. is it really that the only people who can build great startups are engineers? Engineers don’t always have the best business ideas.

Do a curl (or your.NET equivalent) on each domain, and see how many are running a Windows server: I think you’ll find the fraction very small. I am the VP of Engineering at a cutting-edge startup that sells software built on the.NET platform. It’s also missing the point of engineering anything. How about ABAPer?

I also know someone else who consulted me about his website idea. Nothing essential that I disagree with you in your post, but when read by other people with minimal software engineering experience, they can have too high expectations.
