I started showing my partners more deals that I found interesting and doing loads of analysis on the future of markets I thought were ripe for disruption. The market had tanked.

Declining prices & margins in a small market is much less interesting. Example: More than 50% of all youth in Greece & Spain (34% in Italy) are unemployed and if you take “under-employment” it is even worse. I believe that market conditions drive innovation as much as great entrepreneurs do.

Am I delusional to think that we’re not going to feel the effects of Greece in Europe or any of the other macroeconomic problems? Money is available for start-ups in Europe and in my opinion, the consolidation of venture capital and the private equity scene is past the worst. No one goes out of their way to market themselves.
