Where Does Foundry Group Invest?

While I don’t have portfolio level stats for them, their new endeavor Foundry Next (to invest in smaller funds and then follow-on into key investments) has built up an LP basket of 23 positions in a variety of new VC funds. We have always believed that great companies can be created anywhere.

Too Many Seed Investment Choices

Yesterday I sent emails out passing on participating in two seed rounds for companies I really like. They had lots of investors trying to invest and each company was competitive with two other seed stage companies we’ve seen in the past 30 days. Finally, we believe strongly in active engagement as a seed investor.

Of our 13 portfolio companies, 10 had/have formal boards during the seed stage, and the rest had a more informal structure. . ” Remember, we all tell our LP’s that we are immensely helpful to our portfolio companies, so make us follow through on that! Make investor communications short, but frequent.
