The salary offered (and accepted) was quite low. If the gestalt of the merger is expected to be significantly greater than the sum of the company values and cash, then the difference may be used as founders’ shares and split appropriately. After all, you have to build a business and generate your own salary.

Options and future value are great ‘add ons’ but not for a welfare check salary until ‘this great idea makes it.’ link] SEO India Wonderful!! Seems like a hell of a lot of advantage to have, on top of a great founding team, when heading into a startup. Maybe I’m wrong or just know all the wrong people.

Right out of Graduate School, I started my career with one of the big four accounting firms in their M&A (Mergers and Acquisitions) practice. I handled everything from a technical perspective of course (website, SEO and marketing) while she focused on web content. The lost salary simply doesn’t matter enough anymore at that point.
