This is unfortunately a net negative for the ecosystem, as it will be tougher for first time founders and underrepresented minorities to get capital in this environment. I think you’ll also see more intentional syndication of seed and series A rounds with like-minded co-investors teaming up together and splitting rounds more intentionally.

I've read and written about it many times but I think there is one thing which is never loudly spoken about when comparing the EU to Silicon Valley (or the US in general). Net returns may have been in line as many EU VC's like to argue but the sums going in and coming out paled in comparison to US deals.

That’s why a 3G iPad 2 costs $600-800 retail, which nets Apple a very healthy profit of several hundred dollars ( manufactured cost is ~$330 ). Im a former Silicon Valley entrepreneur turned East Coast VC. Apple has a marginally profitable digital content business which drives a highly profitable hardware business.
