One of the people I respect the most in the VC/PE media ecosystem is Dan Primack. Typically, Pre-Seed rounds are less than $1M in aggregate capital raised. Because of this the first mention of a company in the press/media is usually concurrent with their Seed round financing announcement. Q: Is Pre-Seed a Thing?

Be prepared to cross the desert - SaaS requires R&D and sales expense up front for a multi-year stream of revenue, so it demands enough investment capital to fund 4+ years of runway.
