Although a plumbing company may be new but it can’t be considered a startup because it is not designed to grow fast. Participate in community events to expose people to your business. Most new companies start a conventional business, like plumbers, barbers and restaurants. Build a company culture that focuses on a team spirit.

When my friend and the father of LA’s tech startup community Bill Gross first demonstrated his company GoTo.com (renamed Overture) on stage at a TED conference he was actually booed (True story. Intuitively most people know that LA isn’t just the entrepreneurial capital of the US but it is also the creative capital.

This program is designed to help university commercialization programs and/or existing university incubators create dedicated clean energy incubators. In addition, ATI-CEI organized or co-organized over 20 clean energy focused events to help build the Central Texas clean energy community. Those events drew more than 5,000 people.

Ive written a little bit about the origins of Silicon Valley because I think its important for us to understand how we got here in order to make sure we preserve what is best about our community. The companies I spoke to all agreed that the community there was extremely supportive, especially in the critical ulta-early-stage.

Some are major contributors to their startup communities. Not every accelerator is/could be/would be a member in GAN, nor is it designed that way. Provide some sort of seed capital to their founders. From that initial outreach, 16 high quality accelerator programs joined us to launch the network. Others are not.
