Recently I wrote a post arguing to make the definition of a Startup more inclusive than that to which Silicon Valley, fueled by Venture Capital return profiles, would sometimes like to attach to the word. Most of what I think about startup communities came from mentorship by Brad Feld through hours of private discussion and debate.

It was a growing community of people who enjoyed their digital nomad lifestyle. Earthquakes and talent scarcity in tech hubs like San Francisco, London, New York, Tel Aviv, Berlin, Paris and so on could disrupt the business of many tech companies. However, the salaries are spent locally, thus revitalizing the local communities.

. Many people don’t realize that the majority of the monetization of the Internet originated in Los Angeles but was perfected in Silicon Valley. We don’t seem to get credit as a community for SpaceX or recognition as one of the fastest growing communities for commerce: Honest Company & JustFab. Structural.

In the case of Freshdesk, their main competitor, Zendesk, is operating with a San Francisco - Copenhagen cost-structure and will find it harder to compete with this strategy. Now, if the communication can be smoothed, the entire process will become a great deal more productive.

Both my parents and my sister are software engineers … I actually have female co-founders in my companies – an amazing developer & manager Agata (also included in that Top 100 list) and Socha, an architect-turned-designer. It was a huge success, we attracted all best names in the community and people loved it!
