Personally, I believe that the Semantic Web will become mainstream in the next few years (I actually have a bet on this with some college friends). After reading the wonderful blogpost on the BBC’s dynamic semantic publishing system , it reminded me that the Semantic Web has two audiences: the common web user (my mom) and developers.

LA produced Applied Semantics that created AdSense and was bought by Google. LA was a leader in lead generation (LowerMyBills), comparison shopping (PriceGrabber, Shopzilla), social networking (MySpace … I know, I know – Facebook won – but it was still a big business). You don’t. Get over it.

What We’re Doing: We’re currently setting the groundwork for an innovative educational web application that will eventually fuse with social networking. For me, Twitter is now borderless and operates at internet scale. Identity theft is an entirely different ballgame played by evil geniuses, it’s a complex form of social engineering and data mining. 2007 is the year social media began to show it’s face. Twitter’s Pipe Could Benefit From Gatekeeping.

The story of the v-8 engine is a bit different. I cant keep count of the number of people who I talk to on a daily basis online or in person, at networking events, etc.

There is all sorts of advice on the Internet about how to raise capital. I’ve raised in boom markets and when everybody thought the Internet was a fraud. As I like to say, in the era of social networks and transparency if you can’t figure out how to get introduced to a VC then hang up your cleats now.
