These days sales, marketing and PR people seem to grow on trees. After you get through all of this you should ask for references and check them. If you post up an ad to an online job board asking for someone to join your very high risk early stage startup company the odds of getting someone who decent are slim to none.

Then hit the reference materials; scan lists of synonyms and etymologies for more options. I'm working with a PR/Communications gurus who is trying to focus me on a name, that when you hear it, it tells people what it is you are doing. Try to think of all different types of names. Some of the things you mention I have done.

Had I known it was going to take the internet by storm I probably would have been a bit more careful with my word choice (especially referring to.NET as a language, doh!). Nothing essential that I disagree with you in your post, but when read by other people with minimal software engineering experience, they can have too high expectations. Perhaps 15 years ), probably your reader needs further references, and some hands-on experiences to appreciate your post. Either that or theyre really bad.
