Silicon Valley is still emerging from the tech bubble and massive downturn of late 2000-2002. Online social networking is a concept still being evangelized even in Silicon Valley… Friendster is in private beta (wasn’t until Oct 2003 they received Google acquisition offer which they turned down for Kleiner/Benchmark round).

Now the 9th largest economy in the world, it‘s clear that the rest of the world is waking up to the potential in Texas. The second wave of companies were mainly concentrated in Silicon Valley, and coincided with the rise of platforms (Google, Facebook, etc.) Texas is the most promising technology market in the United States.

True was my top pick in Silicon Valley. If you shop it be aware of a few things: 1) your information will be widespread in Silicon Valley including amongst your competitors (this is just a reality) and 2) it’s likely to take 6-8 weeks to get through the process if you’re doing well. I like the way he thinks.
