I love how transparently Danielle lives her startup (& encourages other to join in) because it provides much needed transparency to other startups. it is also the title of a fabulous book from Internet 1.0

It might appear that origination is becoming much easier because of new tools like AngelList and the SEC moving toward adoption of rules that will allow equity based crowdfunding. But in practice, these phenomena create a tremendous volume of startups, which investors then have to filter. Angel groups using Gust. ff Venture Capital.

Back in 1999 when I got my first job in the venture industry I remember having a debate with my boss about the relative importance of product and distribution for startups. Since then the internet has changed everything and for most industries product is now far more important than distribution. He was right.

Come 2009 we felt really bullish about the future for startups because the froth was gone and so, too, were wantrapreneurs. On the positive side, corporate profits are up, their balance sheets have been repaired and they have recapitalized themselves to have lower amounts of debt relative to equity. tl;dr summary. Raise your money.

Fewer private equity funds are using social media for outreach, but 2xPartners , Healthpoint Capital , and MCM Capital Partners are notable exceptions. Private equity investing is a relationship business. For example, an increase in internet traffic is usually a sign of customer traction.
