Companies raised too much money in 2005-08 and had high burn rates. We have the inability to hire engineering in Silicon Valley or brand sales people in NYC but the country still has very high structural long-term unemployment. I’m long the cloud. tl;dr summary. VCs were very active in this period. My prognosis?

One of the things we hear a lot about in Silicon Valley is how cheap and easy it is to launch a startup these days. After all, high-quality open source software is free, the cloud makes computer power far less expensive, and anyone with an Internet connection can learn Ruby and CSS. Starting a business can be very expensive.
