Silicon Valley — another American racist/sexist shithole just like the Segregated South When the Internet first came around in the mid-1990s, it was herald as “The Great Equalizer” where anybody with a keyboard can start an e-commerce shop, publish their works and reach the world to millions who are also attached to the Internet.

And I think of it as a failure of Silicon Valley startups (and occasionally SV VCs who lack an understanding of enterprise purchasing) to assume you don’t need a sales process and sales reps. PR – Some companies are excellent at PR and others don’t put much effort into it at all.

Because market is such a broad topic, I’m restricting these lessons to PR marketing (as opposed SEO, SEM, product marketing, etc.). The corollary is that it is very hard to recover from a crappy marketing campaign that over-hyped. I haven’t heard them pounding their chest and running big marketing campaigns.
