We use redirects / vanity urls in our multi-channel campaigns , in our display or search campaigns or even just for the heck of it. If they are like every other company that obsesses with PPC and Yahoo! People familiar with your brand.

The simplest fix is to set up IP filters to see what your GA data looks like with your computer’s site visits taken out. You can create a filter that only allows good domain names through, but that runs the risk of missing legitimate new traffic that you haven’t added to your list of approved referral sources. For example, instead of forcing everyone to enter their country or search for it in a long dropdown list, why not just suggest the country they’re visiting the website from based on their IP address?
