” It’s the most common refrain I hear from investors and even entrepreneurs these days. Both graduates of one of the most premier science institutions in the United States: Caltech. LA in fact has more entrepreneurs as a percentage of its population than anywhere else in the country. Success begets success.

The credit for starting this fire goes to Paul Graham from Y Combinator , who wrote a great essay titled The Founders Visa in April 2009. As an immigrant founder, this is a topic that I can relate to and care about.

Two weeks after Brad’s post I was at the 140 Conference in LA and I held open office hours for any entrepreneur who wanted to spend 15 minutes talking with a VC about their business.

We launched the CODE2040 Fellows Program, which places top black and Latino/a software engineering students in internships, with five students in summer 2012.
