My first career was spent building radio and television stations, then running the programming side of those businesses. Let me start with the obvious baseline that most people probably know instinctively: Los Angeles is the 3rd largest technology startup ecosystem in the US. But in Los Angeles, Santa Monica is akin to SoMa in San Francisco, Cambridge in the Boston area or Flatiron / Union Square in NYC. Some of our most successful deals have been in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Baltimore and London. We have long wanted to move but wanted to wait for the perfect space.
