When a top 10 company by valuation like Facebook, changes its name and focus to the MetaVerse – it is going to generate a lot of attention. Since its launch in 2004, Facebook was the clear winner of social networking with 3.6 97% of FB / Meta’s revenue comes from advertising.

Google is still a private company (their IPO was Aug 2004). The market size for online advertising, e-commerce, and web premium services are 1/10th to 1/3rd the size they are today. Facebook doesn’t exist, even as a walled-garden college social network (Mark Zuckerberg was part way through his freshman year at Harvard).
