To be clear, the desire to send and receive short messages isn't going away--but the need to send them via the SMS protocol may become extinct. Why call when you can just send a quick text?

As I look around post-holiday season, I am seeing more and more regular, non-technical friends and family get connected on their mobile devices. Clearly that was just the beginning of a longer term trend for mobile devices to get more powerful, easier to use, and more widely deployed into the market.

Conor over at Argolon gave me the low-down on what’s happening on the green isle: Dublin has traditionally been the mobile dev centre here (Movidia, Newbay, Xiam, Puca, S3, Rococo etc etc) and I think that is still the case. Finally, Mobile Monday Dublin seems to be a bit quiet at the minute ([link].
